I have nothing but praise for the team at elevate psychiatry. I was a patient at this practice for several years and only left because I moved out of state. I was treated by Fiorella, Polina, and Dr. Bhatia. They were all extremely attentive and provided me with the nonjudgmental, kind care that I needed through different stages of my life. Whether that care required medicine or a more holistic approach, the team was there to help. I’m forever grateful for this practice.

I have been a patient of Dr. Bhatia since 2019. His approach is warm, welcoming, patient, attentive, empathetic, understanding, and non-judgmental. He always advocates for his patients and is in the best interest for everyone. My experience with Dr. Bhatia's service throughout the years is that he always listens to everything I share in-person, virtually, and through Patient Portal messages. Whenever he recommends a treatment or medication, he explains everything thoroughly, shares why and how he thinks the treatment/medication can help, and provides many resources. It was because of him that I went to see a sleep specialist for a sleep study and found out that I have a neurological disorder as well. My previous doctors always dismissed my concerns about my symptoms, so I am grateful that Dr. Bhatia always goes above and beyond. Last year, he helped me with my FMLA process because I was in a work situation that aggravated my symptoms significantly. He came up with a treatment plan and we met every two weeks to go over my progress. He also had me take a DNA medical test to help figure out which medication may or may not work for me. It was really helpful and gave us an insight on what other medications I could try. I also tried EMDR with Angela. The appointments were virtual and she helped me process some childhood traumatic memories. Earlier this year, Dr. Bhatia suggested I try Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). Since I am treatment resistant to most medications, I was excited to try TMS. I met with Laura at the new office and she was really heartwarming, genuine, and knowledgeable. She kept me updated on the authorization process with my insurance. When my insurance didn't approve it, Dr. Bhatia, Dr. Perez, and Laura continued to try other ways to help get me approved. Dr. Bhatia provided an extensive letter stating why I am a good candidate and how TMS could benefit me. It meant a lot to me that they continued to advocate for me. When I received the news that I was finally approved for TMS, I was really excited and thankful. I had a consultation with Dr. Perez, who was really patient, knowledgeable about TMS, and understanding. Laura and Dr. Perez put a fabric cap on my head and marked the spots where the TMS device would go. I went to Elevate Psychiatry every weekday for 36 sessions (30-minute per session). The magnetic pulses felt like a head massage for me and it was nice to talk to Laura, Mel, and Britney, who helped administer the TMS treatment every session. They asked me about my moods, caffeine use, and sleep quality. After my last TMS session, they gave me a written card. It was a really nice gesture and made me tear up. TMS helped me feel better and have relief. During my TMS treatment, I also did 1-2 talk therapy sessions a week, tried to incorporate exercise and a healthy diet on a regular basis, practiced mindfulness, and attended peer support groups. I worked part-time to have more time to focus on my health and be able to pinpoint my symptoms and side effects better. I was told there are options if I regress, such as maintenance TMS or another full 36 sessions if it's severe, and maybe medication. They also do weekly TMS support groups for patients currently or who finished their TMS sessions. I highly recommend patients to book several appointments in advance because they get booked really quickly, and work on your lifestyle outside of psychiatric care. If you don't like something or someone's service, say something, so they can improve or figure out how to help you better. They are not mind readers, so be sure to communicate and track your journey. I love the staff and appreciate their services. The Patient Portal is really user-friendly. You can book, reschedule, cancel, and check into appointments, send secure messages, go over your medical history and documents, and request forms. They accept many types of health insurance plans and will try to work with those who are in financial need.

Great office and great provider. I can't speak to all providers in this office, but Miss Pamela NP was amazing- answered all of my questions, really tried to communicate with me, and not made feel like I was a bad person for taking my medications. Highly recommend if you have moved to MIA and need a new person.

Telepsychiatry

Many people feel more comfortable receiving mental health care from the comfort of home. There’s no social stigma or nervousness about being in a public place. Patients have total privacy. Telepsychiatry, or virtual treatment, is a powerful tool.

Warm, familiar surroundings can also make sessions more effective because patients feel more comfortable sharing what they truly think and feel. This freedom is important for mental health disorders, from OCD to substance addiction.

Our online psychiatry services allow you to enjoy interactive therapy from home with friendly professionals. We can provide treatment even when you’re on a well-deserved vacation thousands of miles away.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy refers to the power of talking for alleviating depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and many other disorders. Psychotherapy is often the first step in obtaining relief. For many people, anxiety is a symptom with a deeper underlying cause. The purpose of psychotherapy is to discover what that cause is.

Identifying harmful thought patterns (e.g., “I don’t deserve to be loved”) and gently correcting them can have an amazing effect. For some patients, it’s the key to successfully overcome their mood disorder for good. Our team is experienced with cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational psychotherapy, mentalization therapy, and other personalized treatment options.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Some people feel nervous about the thought of taking medication for substance abuse issues. In reality, this is no different from following the doctor’s orders for diabetes or high blood pressure. Our team always treats patients with respect. We help you select the medication-assisted treatment the same way you would any other medical treatment.

Medication can make a significant difference in how you feel. It can make the journey easier as you maintain sobriety. MAT is a trusted therapy for addiction to opioids, alcohol, and other substances. It’s highly effective for reducing cravings and withdrawal symptoms, reducing the risk of relapses.

Other Services

We believe in offering our clients state-of-the-art treatment options. You can experience the latest scientific advances in mental health care. If you’ve tried numerous antidepressants or therapies without success, these advanced treatments may be the answer:

  • Transcranial magnetic stimulation: TMS uses magnetic pulses to stimulate parts of the brain that are underactive in depression, OCD, substance abuse disorders, and other disorders. It’s fast and non-invasive.
  • Pharmacogenomic analysis: Looking at a patient’s DNA can help us select medication with the fewest side effects and the greatest benefits. Genes play a role in determining how effective treatments are.
  • ECT: Electroconvulsive therapy remains one of the best solutions for medication-resistant depression and psychotic disorders. Professional ECT treatment is a safe and effective option for most patients.
