Carla Garcia has worked in mental health care for almost two years. She has a background in nursing practice and has worked with adults and geriatric patients across multiple settings, including adult outpatient services and long-term care services.
Her main role is to provide diagnostic assessment and medication management to patients who suffer from chronic mental health conditions. She also provides brief psychotherapy since treatment effectiveness improves with both the use of psychotropics and therapy. She is fluent in Spanish and English.
She attended Florida International University and earned a Master of Science in Nursing. She is currently doing her Doctorate Degree in Nursing at the same institution.
Her theoretical knowledge combined with her training and exposure to the care of mentally ill patients, have given her the tools to provide patient-centered, empathic, quality care. She utilizes a holistic approach to care, considering that patients have different cultural backgrounds, religions, sexual orientations, ages, and other characteristics that make every person unique.
She resides in Hialeah Gardens, Florida with her husband and two beautiful children, as well as her cute dog Lola Garcia. When she is not helping patients deal with her mental health issues, she is most likely making her favorite Peruvian dish.
