Valentina Sotomayor has earned her Master of Science in Counseling from Barry University, specializing in both Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Couples Marriage Family Counseling. Valentina also holds a Bachelor in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a background in Psychology from Pace University.
Her extensive experience in education as a former teacher, combined with her background in healthcare and psychology, provides her with a comprehensive understanding of her clients' needs.
Bilingual in English and Spanish, Valentina has worked with a diverse clientele encompassing various ethnic backgrounds, religious beliefs, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic statuses. She has extensive experience across all age groups, from young children to older adults. Valentina’s clinical expertise includes helping clients with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and addressing relationship and/or family challenges.
Valentina employs a range of therapeutic approaches tailored to each individual. She uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients transform negative thought patterns into positive ones, Solution Focused Therapy to find practical and effective solutions, and Family Systems Therapy to improve family dynamics and relationships.
