Jose Joel Cartagena is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC). He earned both his master’s and doctorate degrees in psychiatric nursing from Nova Southeastern University, graduating with honors. Before specializing in mental health, he began his nursing career in primary care and later gained valuable experience in intensive care units throughout Central Florida.
Originally from Puerto Rico, Jose Joel is bilingual in English and Spanish and has extensive clinical experience serving diverse populations, including first responders and members of the LGBT community. His combined medical and psychiatric background strengthens his ability to deliver evidence-based treatment tailored to each individual’s needs.
